Scott and Amy Fandel have been missing from Sterling, Alaska since September 5, 1978. They had been at a local bar with their mother and aunt. They lived in a 2 bedroom cabin with a bright streetlight out front near a heavily wooded area. The front door lock did not work. Once the children had been dropped off at home, the two adults returned to the bar, arriving home about 2 AM. Scott and Amy were gone.

The women found it odd that the cabin was pitch black when they arrived, as the children were afraid of the dark. There was a pot of water boiling on the stove and macaroni and canned tomatoes on the counter. This was Scott's favorite snack. Bullet casings were found outside the cabin but it is not known if they were related to the children's disappearance. Scott's prized motorbike was also left behind.

Scott who was 13, was described as an average student who was tough and streetwise. He was fiercely protective of his 8 year old sister, Amy. These children have now been missing for nearly 30 years.
