The man on the run with Laura Stainforth, the missing 15-year-old schoolgirl, is on bail over allegations he raped a teenager after meeting her on the internet.
Robert Williams, a 49-year-old lorry driver, is alleged to have raped the 16-year-old girl, who cannot be named, late last year.
The disclosure came after Humberside Police repeatedly stated that Mr Williams, who is thought to have eloped last Wednesday with Laura, from Cleethorpes, was not on the sex offenders register.
Laura and Mr Williams, who are thought to have talked online, were captured on CCTV footage at Grimsby railway station last week. It is thought they have travelled abroad.
The alleged other victim and her father, from Sussex, told the Daily Mail that Mr Williams had been arrested on December 6 after being found with her in a hotel room.
It is claimed that after they met online, Mr Williams told her they could run away together to Puerto Rico, Germany or France.
During a visit near her home in November, Mr Williams took her to Brighton beach before feeding her vodka and taking her to a Travelodge hotel and having sex with her, it is alleged.
It is further claimed that the following month, he drove her to Darlington, booked them into a hotel and raped the girl.
The girl is reported to have told the newspaper: "I was fairly depressed and we started talking on the internet on Facebook and then MSN Messenger.
"I was low on confidence and trusted people and he said he was 26 and would come and visit me. I met him from the train station and was embarrassed to be with him as he was so old."
Durham Police, who are investigating the rape allegation, said: "A 49-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape in Darlington on December 6 last year. He is on bail pending further inquiries."
