BOLO Issued for Chef

(WSB Radio) Atlanta police have issued a "be on the lookout" or BOLO alert for an Atlanta chef who has been missing for more than a week.

Police are looking into a report that 28 year old Brandon Patton's truck has been spotted three times in Florida.

"Possibly two to three white males were seen inside the truck," says the APD's Otis Redmond, "that were selling some type of frozen goods out of the truck."

A would-be customer thought the men were acting strangely and copied down the license plate of the truck. It matched Patton's.

Patton was heading to Tampa to visit his daughter when he vanished last week.

Atlanta cops stop searching for missing chef
Brandon Patton seen in surveillance video taken in St. Pete Beach, Fla.

By BY JEFFRY SCOTT

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

The family of Brandon Patton is still worried about his whereabouts, but on Tuesday the Atlanta Police Department said it had stopped searching for the missing Atlanta chef.

Patton was last seen by his family April 3, and his truck was seen the next day in Lakeland, Fla., in the possession of two men who were using it to sell meat door to door, according to a Lakeland Police Department spokesman.

Atlanta police said in a statement Tuesday the department is no longer the “lead agency” in the search after Patton’s family identified him from a surveillance video taken April 6 when he was a customer at a St. Pete Beach seafood restaurant.

“At the time of the sighting, he appeared to be under no duress or in any immediate danger,” Atlanta police spokesman James Polite said in a press release.

A spokesman for the St. Pete Beach Police Department confirmed the department has taken on the case.

The video was discovered April 11 after the department got a call from someone who said they saw a man matching Patton’s description at Crabby Bill’s Seafood restaurant. The tape was retrieved by police, and family members confirmed his identity.

His ex-fiancee and mother of his 4-year-old daughter, Carol Bennett, said Tuesday she is not satisfied that Patton has been located and is out of harm’s way.

“We still think the police should be searching for him,” she said. “As far as we are concerned, he’s not been found.”

Video Shows Missing Man At Fla. Restaurant

Posted: 2:20 pm EDT April 14, 2009Updated: 6:39 pm EDT April 14, 2009
ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Police Department confirmed to Channel 2 Action News Tuesday that the family of a missing Buckhead family has positively identified Brandon Patton from a video taken April 6.

Officer J. Polite with the Atlanta Police Department said, "The Atlanta Police Department Missing Persons Unit with the assistance of family members have made a positive visual identification (VIDEO) on Mr. Brandon Hamilton Patton. At the time of the sighting he appeared to be under no duress or in any immediate danger."

Channel 2 Action News learned Monday that witnesses continue to report possible sightings of a missing Atlanta chef. Patton, 28, was last seen by his family April 2, but a woman said she spoke with him at a Florida restaurant after that.

"This is totally out of character for Brandon," said Patton's uncle, Tom Johnston.

Patton's family confirmed to Channel 2 Action News that a woman said she spoke with Patton in St. Petersburg, Fla. recently. The woman told Patton's family and police she spoke with him at Crabby Bill's restaurant April 6.

Police said Patton was confirmed to be the person who appeared on a restaurant's surveillance tape.

"From what I understand, he talked in length about his daughter...they exchanged numbers and the number he gave her was his cell phone number," said Johnston.

The Atlanta man never showed up for a planned visit with his 4-year-old daughter in Tampa, Fla. last weekend. His disappearance touched off a two-state search by his family and friends.

Channel 2 Action News was the first to report a sighting of Patton's truck April 4 in Lakeland, Fla. with two men inside. Neither man matched Patton's description.

Now his family is dealing with the new development two days after the truck sighting and 100 miles away at a beachside restaurant.

Carol Bennett is the mother of Patton's child. "We have a beautiful little girl that we both love. She's the light of both of our lives," said Bennett.

Johnston said he just wants Patton to call and let them know he is OK.

Missing Chef Comes Home
By
Condace Pressley
@ April 16, 2009 3:21 PM
(WSB Radio) -- A Buckhead chef, missing for almost two weeks has been found and has returned home.

A relative of Brandon Patton's sent an email to Channel 2 Action News to say Patton had returned to his Buckhead home. No explanation of where he'd been or what happened was offered.

Patton reportedly had left Atlanta for Tampa, FL to visit his 4 year old daughter and never arrived. His 1997 gold Chevy S-10 was spotted a week ago in Lakeland, Florida with two men inside the vehicle. Patton was not seen.

St. Petersburg and Atlanta police made a positive video identification of Patton at a Crabby Bills. According to APD Officer James Polite, "The Atlanta Police Department Missing Persons Unit with the assistance of family members have made a positive visual identification (VIDEO) on Mr. Brandon Hamilton Patton. At the time of the sighting he appeared to be under no duress or in any immediate danger."

News/Talk 750 WSB spoke to a member of Patton's family who would only say, "We are very happy that Brandon is safe, but we don't wish to comment any further."

Missing Chef Back Home With Family

Posted By: Cal Callaway

ATLANTA -- A missing chef from the Atlanta area has returned home to his family.

Brandon Patton, 28, told 11Alive's John Cater Thursday that he went off on his own to deal with personal issues that he declined to describe. Patton said he had no idea police and family and friends had launched a nationwide search for him. He said he regrets not telling someone that he was going to make the solo trip.

Patton was last seen in Atlanta on April 3 at the Buckhead home he shares with his mother.

Patton was set to travel to Florida to visit his 3-year-old daughter in Tampa but he never made it to her. His disappearance led his family and friends to circulate fliers in the Tampa area as authorities searched for him.

Earlier this week, Florida authorities released surveillance photographs of Patton at a bar near St. Petersburg. Atlanta Police said the photographs showed Patton did not appear to be under any duress.

Patton found in Florida after extensive search

Atlanta resident and former Fayette County resident Brandon Patton is back home. Reported missing since early April after not showing up in Tampa to take his 3 year-old daughter on vacation, Patton provided few clues about his absence. Patton has worked for two years as executive chef at the Hollingsworth House in Fayetteville.

11Alive TV reported Thursday that 28 year-old Patton had returned to his home in Atlanta, saying that he went off on his own to deal with personal issues. Patton declined to describe those issues, the report said. Patton told 11Alive that he was unaware of the extensive search initiated by family and law enforcement, according to the report.

The former Fayette County resident now living in Atlanta, Patton began the journey to pick up his young daughter from her mother’s home in Tampa, Hollingsworth House co-owner Belinda Fitch said last week. The two were to go on vacation, Fitch said.

Earlier this week, Florida authorities released surveillance photographs of Patton at a bar near St. Petersburg. Atlanta Police said the photographs showed Patton did not appear to be under any duress, 11Alive reported.
