SATSUMA -- Putnam County investigators said new tips in the search for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings have led detectives to places around Florida and even out-of state.
At a press conference Tuesday morning, Capt. Steve Rose, with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, said detectives canvassed the Satsuma neighborhood last night and found new people they had not spoken to about the girl's disappearance.
"We were able to come up with several good leads that we are following up on," Rose said. "Those leads, as I said, were a result of doing the neighborhood canvas last night."
Several people have taken polygraph tests, including Haleigh's father, Ronald Cummings, 25, and his girlfriend, Misty Croslin, 17.
Croslin was the last person to see Haleigh before she disappeared.
Ronald Cummings told deputies he left his daughter and son in bed in Croslin's care. Croslin said when she got out of bed, she could not find Haleigh.
Investigators would not release information about what the polygraph tests showed, or comment on whether they still believe Croslin is telling the truth.
Officials would also not answer questions about Croslin, including where she was, and if she had access to a car during the time Haleigh disappeared from her Satsuma home. They simply said they are looking at everyone.
"We are still looking at everybody as a suspect," Rose said.
The ground search for the missing child has ended, but investigators will continue to work on leads.
Father Begs For Search To Continue
Ronald Cummings pleaded for searchers to continue looking for his missing daughter as authorities switched gears in the case Monday.
Law enforecement and volunteers with Texas EquuSearch conducted their last ground search Monday in a wooded area about 10 miles from the Putnam County girl's home.
Afterward, volunteers began packing up to leave, something Cummings said is his worst nightmare.
"Law enforcement is discouraged. Volunteers, I don't know, but I encourage anybody that wants to help look for my daughter come back and help me look," Ronald Cummings said.
Putnam County sheriff's investigators have moved their command post to the Emergency Operations Center in Palatka, where they plan to follow as many as 500 leads.
Cummings pulled EquuSearch founder Tim Miller aside to plead for his team to stay, but in the end, Miller told Cummings he had to leave.
"He was begging for us to stay, but I explained to him that we have other cases," Miller said. "Let's move forward, and if something comes up, we'll come back."
Cummings, however, made one final call to his daughter, hoping she was listening.
"For the perpetrator or perpetrators, please bring her home. Please bring her home safe," Cummings said. "And if she's watching, baby, I love you. I'll never give up on you."

SATSUMA -- As authorities continue their exhaustive search for missing 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, deputies say reward money is pouring in to find the little girl.
Investigators say they've received over 1,200 tips in this case, including one saying the 17-year-old girlfriend of the child's father, Misty Croslin, was not home at the time of Haleigh's disappearance.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office will hold a press conference at 3 p.m. Thursday to discuss the next course of action.
At a Wednesday afternoon press conference, investigators said, based on tips, they put a boat on the St. Johns River and have processed a vehicle, but they would not give details.
The Sheriff's Office said $16,000 reward is being offered in the case, including $10,000 from an anonymous donor, $5,000 from a foundation and $1,000 from CrimeStoppers.
Putnam County Sheriff's Office Captain Dick Schauland says no ground searches are scheduled at this point. However, ground crews are ready, should the need arise.
Investigators conducted spot searches Tuesday. So far, all of the leads have come up short.
Tuesday, deputies said they slightly changed the Amber Alert out for Haleigh, saying she wasn't wearing a pink shirt when she vanished as first thought.
Other than that, investigators said not much has changed about their case, and they're appealing to the entire nation for help.

SATSUMA - The search for Haleigh Cummings was scaled back Saturday, but investigators continued to run down leads in hopes that one will take them to the 5-year-old who family members say was last seen Feb. 9 in her home.

A few volunteers searched near the Satsuma home in which Haleigh lived with her father, Ronald Cummings, and his girlfriend, Misty Croslin.
Putnam County Sheriff's Capt. Dick Schauland said the department had no organized searches Saturday.
Schauland added that a cousin of Croslin who lives in Tennessee but had recently visited the area is not a suspect or "person of interest" in the case.
"We got a lead about him early on and interviewed him. He is not a suspect," Schauland said. "At the moment, we have no searches. We are following up on leads. The investigation is going on."
Schauland added that no searches were planned for today, but added that could change depending on any leads that might come in.
A few individuals searched on their own, stopping by an area down the street from the Cummings home where members of Ronald Cummings' family have gathered since the case began.
Members of the Christian Motorcycle Association based in Putnam County also stopped by to pray with family members for Haleigh's return.
"We're just here to lend support," said member Barbara Rains. "We want to pray with them."
Barbie Squires, Haleigh's paternal great-grandmother, said the family plans to remain camped at the site as long as the property owner allows it or until Haleigh is found.
Squires said the ordeal is wearing on the family, including Haleigh's 3-year-old brother Ronnie Jr., who was also in the house when family members say Haleigh disappeared.
"He's not doing well at all. He realizes what's going on," Squires said. "Today he went to his granny's house and she gave him a soda. He was pouring it in a glass. She asked him why and he said he was pouring half of it for his sister."
Cummings said he has not worked since Haleigh vanished.
Squires said an account - the Haleigh Cummings Family Relief Fund - has been established at Bank of America.
A reward of up to $20,000 is being offered in the case. Anyone with information can call a tips line at 888-227-TIPS.
Croslin, 17, said she discovered Haleigh missing about 3 a.m. Feb. 9 when she awoke to use the bathroom. Haleigh had been sleeping in one of two beds in the master bedroom, Croslin said.
Schauland said in a press conference Saturday that 4,786 man hours have been spent by law enforcement on the ground, air and water searches, while sheriff's investigators have spent 1,626 hours investigating leads. Volunteer search hours total more than 4,000.
The number of leads is now up to 1,600.
"Some of the leads end up going nowhere, but you have to run them down," Schauland said. "Somewhere along the line is going to be the tip that will lead us to her. Sooner or later we are going to find it."

Haleigh Ann-Marie Cummings, the 5-year-old girl who has been missing from her family's home in Satsuma since Feb. 9, has a genetic abnormality that could help an eyewitness identify her.
Family members say Haleigh has been diagnosed with Turner syndrome, which affects one in every 2,500 female babies born alive and is marked by features that range from major heart defects to minor cosmetic indicators.
For more than two weeks, detectives have been pouring over the hundreds of leads they've received about Haleigh's disappearance, some from as far away as Tennessee.
On Tuesday, day 15 in the search for the missing girl, investigators were following up on a report that she had been spotted walking with a man in St. Augustine. It turned out to be a father walking his daughter to school.
Haleigh is described as having strawberry blond hair and brown eyes. She is 3-feet tall and weighs 39 pounds.
Family members say she has a number of features that are typical of a child with Turner syndrome: Two brown birthmarks are found on her left cheekbone and right jawline, her fingers and toes are chubbier than those of most kids her size and age, and her left eye is slightly smaller and unaligned (a condition called "lazy eye").
Haleigh is below average height for her age, typical of a Turner syndrome child.
Most grow to be no taller than 4 feet 6 inches, according to a report from the National Institutes of Health, and they are often treated with human growth hormone.
While most of the physical signs of Turner syndrome are harmless, those who are born with it can have congenital heart disease, high blood pressure and abnormal development at puberty.
The genetic abnormality can be diagnosed by amniocentesis during pregnancy.
Anyone with information about Haleigh's disappearance should call 888-277-TIPS or the FDLE's Missing Endangered Persons Information Clearinghouse at 888-FL-MISSING.

Leads Are Growing Cold in Search for 5-Year-Old Haleigh Cummings
Cadaver dogs were brought into the search for Haleigh Cummings, the little 5-year-old girl that went missing in Satsuma, Florida, on February 9-10. The K-9 units were used Thursday and Friday but came up with nothing new that might lead police to where the missing girl might be.
There has been nothing generated in the case this past week to give authorities hope that Haleigh Cummings will be found soon. The public found out about a mysterious "man in black" that Haleigh's little brother told the police about shortly after her disappearance.
Haleigh Cummings is Missing: Cadaver Dogs Brought in for Search
Date: February 28, 2009
Satsuma , FL
United States of America
Ronald Cummings, Jr., 4, told the Putnam County Sheriff's Office that a man dressed in black snuck into the room where he and his sister (and the live-in babysitter, Misty Croslin) slept and took her away. Although the police knew about it, everyone else found out about it when Crystal Sheffield appeared on "Nancy Grace" and revealed that her son had told her and his father about the "man in black."
Authorities spent some time searching through the trash of a dumpster near the Satsuma double-wide mobile home of Haleigh Cummings Thursday after cadaver dogs converged on the receptacle. The search produced nothing.
Searches conducted on Friday produced nothing as well.
Teresa Neves, Haleigh Cummings' paternal grandmother, said that she never expected the dogs to find anything. She holds on to the belief that her granddaughter is alive. She told the Orlando Sentinel, "There's always that little thing that scares you to death. To know that she's not there is a relief. Somebody has her, and I pray to God they release her."
She also said that her son, Ronald Cummings, was allowed to go back into the trailor, which has been cordoned off as a crime scene since the night of the suspected abduction, to get some personal items. Neves said that he will not live there again. It was where Haleigh lived and from where she went missing.

On Memorial Day Palatka's Blue Crab Festival is jam packed. And for folks searching for Haleigh it's the perfect opportunity to spread the word. Cobra, is a private investigator, and despite a recent arrest over accusations he handcuffed a man he was interviewing about Haleigh's disappearance, he has spent the holiday weekend manning a Haleigh Cummings tent.

"I've been here 3 days, collected $80. Put up with rainstorms. I did better going to business associates and asking them for help. That's been more successful, but this keeps the word out."

He's hoping someone here knows something that will help him bring Haleigh home.

"I tell them here's my card. Call me. I'm not tired of looking. I'll continue, that's what I do everyday."

And he believes that hard work will eventually lead to answers.

"There's going to be a conclusion. I just hope it's a positive one. Anything done in the darkness is always brought to the light. It always comes out."

Bounty hunter with Haleigh ties is charged

A South Florida bounty hunter involved in the search for Haleigh Cummings was charged Friday with falsely imprisoning a man who was free on bail on a child-sex charge.

William Eugene Staubs, 51, who goes by the name "Cobra," was arrested after police said he handcuffed Daniel Everett Snodgrass, 55, on March 20 and held him against his will.

The bounty hunter drove to Snodgrass' Satsuma home about noon, turned on a siren and called for the man using a loudspeaker, according to a Putnam County Sheriff's Office arrest report.

The report said the bondsman threw Snodgrass to the ground, put his knee in his back and handcuffed him. Two deputies watched as Snodgrass was forced into a sport utility vehicle, the report said.

He was driven around for about an hour and interrogated before being returned home.

Snodgrass was charged in December 2007 with capital sexual battery. He is accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl after tying her to a bed and taking pictures of the child and her 16-year-old sister dressed in lingerie.

He had been released from jail on bond, but Staubs didn't represent the bonding agency and bond for Snodgrass wasn't set to be revoked.

Staubs is an associate of Kim Picazio, a South Florida attorney representing Crystal Sheffield. Sheffield's daughter, Haleigh, has been missing since Feb. 10 when she vanished from her Satsuma home.

Staubs' bail was set at $5,000.
